Step-by-Step Installation Guide
1. Prepare the Side Door for Installation
- Clean the area where the lock will be mounted to remove dirt, grease, or debris.
- Measure 26 cm (260mm) down from the door’s top reference point and mark the center for drilling.
- Position the drilling template sticker and align it with the door gap.
- Ensure the side with five holes is on the sliding door, as this is where the locking mechanism attaches.
2. Drill the Mounting Holes
- Use a center punch to mark the hole locations.
- Start with a small pilot hole, then expand using a 9mm or 10mm drill bit.
- On the fixed part of the van, ensure you drill through both the outer and inner sheet metal layers.
- Deburr the holes and apply touch-up paint to prevent rust.
3. Install the Lock Body & Emergency Release Cable
- Remove the lower interior door panel to access the backside of the mounting area.
- Fit M6 plus nuts into the top and bottom right-side holes.
- Slide the emergency release cable through the lock body’s center hole.
- Loosely install the security bolts that will snap off when fully tightened.
- Insert the two Allen-head bolts through the back of the door into the lock.
4. Attach the Hasp & Reinforcement Plate
- Mount the hasp onto the fixed part of the van where the lock will latch.
- Use the plastic spacer plate provided to ensure proper spacing.
- Secure the hasp bolts by threading them into the reinforcement plate from the inside of the van.
- Before fully tightening, test door closure and lock engagement.
5. Tighten & Secure All Fasteners
- Gradually tighten all bolts while ensuring proper alignment.
- Engage the deadlock function by turning the key to the right and pulling it out.
- Fully tighten the security bolts until they snap off, preventing tampering.
- Attach the Legend branding cover to conceal the bolts.
- Install the dust cap over the lock cylinder, ensuring it faces downward.
6. Repeat the Process for the Rear Doors
- Measure 12 cm from the lower molding and mark the drill points.
- Follow the same steps as the side door installation, ensuring the lock body is mounted on the right-side door.
- Remove the rear interior door panel to access the mounting area.
- Install the hasp, reinforcement plate, and emergency release cable.
