Installing Side Light Brackets on Weather Guard Headache Rack
|
Posted in Installation Videos
If you need lights on the corners of your Weather Guard headache rack — flood lights, beacons, whatever your job calls for — the Weather Guard headache rack side light bracket is how you do it right. You get a bracket for each side, and the install is quick once you know the order of operations. Here's the full walkthrough.
What the Weather Guard Headache Rack Side Light Bracket Adds
The Weather Guard headache rack side light bracket comes as a two-pack — one bracket for the driver's side, one for the passenger's side. They mount at the top corners of the rack and give you a clean, flush surface for your lights. Weather Guard's integrated track system makes this install straightforward, but there's a specific sequence you need to follow or you'll run into problems. The bracket carries Weather Guard's lifetime warranty and comes with all hardware and a printed installation guide.

Step-by-Step Install
Step 1: Review the Installation Guide
The box includes a printed installation guide specific to the Weather Guard headache rack side light bracket. Read through it before you start — it covers warnings, tool requirements, torque specs, and the mounting sequence.
Step 2: Thread the First Square Bolt — Rotated 90°
This is the nuance that trips people up. Before positioning the bracket, thread one square bolt onto the bracket's mounting point and rotate it 90° from where it will end up. You need it in this rotated position so it can slide into the channel on the headache rack without binding.
Step 3: Position the Bracket on the Rack
Slide the bracket up into the corner of the headache rack with the rotated bolt going into the channel. Once it's seated in the channel, rotate the bracket (and bolt) back to the correct orientation.
Step 4: Insert the Second Square Bolt
Take your second square bolt and slide it into the middle opening on the bracket, then into the channel. Get it lined up with the second hole on the bracket.
Step 5: Thread and Tighten
Get both bolts hand-threaded, then tighten them down to spec per your installation guide. Repeat the exact same process on the other side of the rack.
Once both Weather Guard headache rack side light brackets are mounted, you've got a flush, stable surface on each corner ready for your flood lights or beacons.

Weather Guard Headache Rack Side Light Bracket FAQs
Q: Why do I need to rotate the bolt 90° first?
A: The channel opening on the headache rack only allows the square bolt to enter when it's oriented a specific way. If you don't rotate it before inserting, you won't be able to get the bolt into the channel.
Q: Are both brackets the same?
A: Yes, the two brackets in the kit are the same. One goes on the left corner, one goes on the right.
Q: Can I mount something other than lights on this bracket?
A: The bracket gives you a flat mounting surface, so as long as your fixture fits the hole pattern, you have options. Lights are the primary use case.
Q: What warranty does the Weather Guard headache rack side light bracket carry?
A: Weather Guard's lifetime warranty covers this accessory against defects.
