Which BedRug Is Right for Your Truck or Van?

BedRug's lineup covers two distinct vehicle types — pickup trucks and cargo vans — with several products in each category. Here's a quick guide:

For cargo vans: The VanTred and VanRug are both floor-only mats that fill the corrugations in your van floor. The VanTred has a hard TPO top surface (easier to wipe clean, better for wet cargo); the VanRug has a soft carpet-like surface (better for builds where you'll glue a subfloor on top, since adhesives bond more easily to the woven material).

For pickup trucks — full liner vs. mat: If your truck has a bare, unpainted, or OEM-painted bed, the Classic Bed Liner or Impact Bed Liner gives full interior coverage — floor, front wall, and both side walls. If your truck already has a spray-in or factory liner on the walls, a bed mat (Classic Mat, XLT, or Impact Mat) covers the floor and tailgate only, which is all you need.

Classic vs. Impact surface: The Classic and XLT use BedRug's soft carpet-like polypropylene surface — comfortable on knees, excellent for protecting sensitive cargo. What is the difference between the BedRug VanTred and the VanRug?

Both are custom-molded cargo van floor mats with 1/2-inch polypropylene foam backing. The VanTred has a hard TPO surface — easy to wipe clean, best for commercial delivery use. The VanRug has a carpet-like polypropylene surface — softer on knees and the better choice if you plan to bond a subfloor on top, since adhesives grip the woven material more reliably than the smooth TPO surface. Both are waterproof, mold-resistant, and van-specific.

Does BedRug work over a spray-in bed liner?

Yes. All BedRug bed mats are designed to work over bare truck beds and spray-in liners. The non-abrasive polypropylene backing will not scuff or damage your spray-in finish. If you have a spray-in liner on the walls already, a bed mat (floor and tailgate only) is typically the right choice rather than a full liner kit.

Does BedRug mold or mildew?

No. BedRug products use closed-cell polypropylene foam, which cannot absorb water — moisture runs off or drains through the factory drain holes in your bed or van floor. BedRug will not mold, mildew, or rot. All products clean easily with a garden hose, pressure washer, or vacuum.
