This install walks through fitting the Upfit Select VanMat in a Ford Transit — what to prep before you start, how to orient the mat, and why the whole job takes minutes with no tools.
Prep the van first
Three things to sort out before the mat goes in:
- Existing flooring. If there's already a floor in the van, pull it out — or lay the VanMat over the top of it if you'd rather
- Wheel well covers. If you're fitting wheel well covers, install those first. The mat should sit over the flanges at the bottom of the covers, not under them
- Door sills. If you have sills or threshold plates around the doorways, you may need to move or modify them to get a clean edge
Installing it
Get the mat out of the box and identify the front from the back before you unroll it. On the Ford Transit, look for the cutout that lines up with the emergency spare tire release — that cutout goes at the rear, so you keep access to the release.
From there it's simply a matter of setting it in place and rolling it out front to back. No fasteners, no adhesive, no trimming. The mat is cut for your specific van and wheelbase, so it should drop in without fighting you.
The whole job takes minutes, and it's one of the few upfit installs that genuinely needs no tools.
Fitments
The van in this install is a 148-inch regular wheelbase Transit, but the VanMat is cut for the other configurations too — 130-inch and 148-inch extended — as well as the RAM ProMaster, Mercedes Sprinter, compact vans and other work vans.
Confirm your wheelbase before ordering. Floors and mats are cut to length, so a 148 extended mat won't fit a 148 regular.
