What the Weather Guard 42" Shelf Door Does

The Weather Guard 42" shelf door turns an open-face shelf section into a lockable storage compartment. The Weather Guard 42-inch shelf door covers the front of the shelf, drops down like an underbody toolbox door when unlocked, and is held in the open position by aircraft-grade cable stops so it does not just fall forward onto the shelf below. When closed, it latches to the shelf above it using the shelf's lip geometry and locks with the Weather Guard RH01 key - the same key used across all Weather Guard locking accessories.

What's in the Box

The door comes with two keys, both keyed to the RH01 code. That key code is on the label on the outside of the box, stamped on the lock cylinder itself, and stamped on each key - useful for ordering replacements. The hinge is already built into the panel as a welded-on component, so there is no hinge assembly required. Two wire cable stops are included that hold the door horizontal when lowered. A foam bumper strip is included and goes along the contact edge of the door to cut down on road noise from steel-on-steel contact. How the Door Works

The Weather Guard 42-inch shelf door latches to the underside of the shelf above it when closed. To open, use the key to release the latch and the door drops forward and down. The aircraft-grade cable stops catch it at roughly 90 degrees, keeping it horizontal and giving you clear access to the shelf contents. Swing the door back up and the latch catches and holds it closed. The key is needed to unlatch it again.

Because the lock cylinder is on the back face of the door, the front face is completely clean with no external hardware, which gives the installed door a factory look from the outside. The RH01 key system means this door operates with the same key as Weather Guard drawer cabinets, other shelf doors, and partition door handles - so you only need one key for your entire van if everything is Weather Guard.

What You'll Need for a Full Enclosure

The shelf door covers the front of the shelf. If you want a fully enclosed compartment with no open access points, you also need a back panel. Here is the full combination:

• 42-inch shelf back panel - covers the rear of the shelf
• The shelf unit's side walls naturally close off the left and right

If you install the door without the back panel, the shelf is still accessible from the rear. For a truly enclosed compartment, both are required.
