Unboxing Weather Guard's 52" Shelf Door: Add a Lockable Door to Your Van Shelving

What the Weather Guard Shelf Door Does

The Weather Guard shelf door is a lockable drop-down door that installs on the front of a Weather Guard adjustable van shelving unit. It works like an underbody toolbox door - small cables attach to the shelf ends and hold the door at a true 90 degrees when open, keeping it flat and out of the way while you work. When closed, a twist latch mechanism secures it, and a keyed lock keeps it locked. This is part number 9505 and it is sized for a 52-inch wide shelf.

The Weather Guard shelf door is ordered by the width of your shelving unit. If you have a 42-inch wide shelf, you need the 42-inch door. If you have a 52-inch wide shelf, this is the one. Check the width of your shelf before ordering.

What's in the Box

Inside the box you get the shelf door itself, three mounting brackets, cable hardware, and all the bolts, washers, and lock nuts needed for installation. The keys are wire-tied directly to the latch mechanism on the door - two keys are included. A QR code card is in the box in place of a full printed instruction guide; scan it to pull up the installation instructions on your phone. Adhesive foam strip is also included and goes around the door frame to cut down on steel-on-steel noise while driving.

The door comes in Weather Guard's bright white powder coat finish, matching the shelving units exactly. Everything is pre-assembled on the door itself including the built-in hinge.

Dimensions and Sizing

Key measurements for the Weather Guard 52-inch shelf door:

• Door width: fits 52-inch wide shelving units
• Door height: approximately 11 and 1/4 inches
• Shelf opening it fits: the standard 12-inch shelf opening between Weather Guard shelving units
• Key code: RH01 - shared across all lockable Weather Guard accessories

The door height of 11 and 1/4 inches is built to fit in the 12-inch opening between shelf sections. This is the standard opening on Weather Guard's adjustable van shelving, so the sizing lines up without needing to modify anything.

Making a Fully Enclosed Compartment

The Weather Guard shelf door on its own secures the front of the shelf. Weather Guard van shelving units are open in the back by design, which is useful for accessibility but means items can fall through. To create a fully enclosed lockable compartment, you need to add a shelf back panel that covers the rear opening. With the shelf door on the front and a back panel on the rear, you get a completely enclosed cavity that locks. Valuable tools, small equipment, or anything you want secured on the job site can go in here.

The shelf back panel is ordered the same way - by shelf width. A 52-inch shelf door pairs with a 52-inch shelf back panel. Both share the same Weather Guard RH01 key code.
